The tone of the weekend was set on the party err bus ride up to Killington. The Jell-O shots flowed like Champaign and the Rummy Gummies seemed to spring forth from a well eternal. There were games, dancing, and all manner of shenanigans before we even hit the NY/VT border. The party didn’t stop when we reached the Inn of Six Mountains, oh no. When the hotel bar saw a bus of thirsty travelers they wisely elected to extend closing hour. HSC shut the place down that night.
Saturday proved to be cold and windy with a bluebird sky, for those that could wake up. After feeling out the morning snow conditions it was time for lunch at the Peak Lodge on top of K1. In the right conditions you can see five states and Canada from the Peak Lodge, and the food is almost as impressive as the view (I highly recommend the meatloaf)! After a long lunch came the tough decision of what to do next. Some folks packed it in and headed to Mogul’s pub to watch the game, and some braved the elements to finish out their day. After a pause in activity for rest/cocktails/football it was off to The Foundary for dinner, where no free drink tickets went to waste. Once the group had fueled up it was time to party at the Pickle Barrel which had an awesome band and was an amazing time.
Sunday morning was tough for many, but the mountain was calling. After getting a few runs under the belt, it was time for lunch, Bloody Marys, and football at the Long Trail Pub. After a whirlwind 48 hours at Killington the time came to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride back to NJ.
Until next season.
