Happy 2015! The HSC kicked off the New Year in a big way with a trip to Quebec City that included a New Year’s Eve bash and 3 days of great skiing and riding at Mont Sainte Anne and Le Massif.
Mimosas and bagels in hand, the club made its way up to Canada the day before New Year’s Eve. Dave, our favorite bus driver (with wife Jane along for the ride), delivered us to Quebec City early enough to enjoy dinner/drinks that evening in Quebec City.
Before New Year’s Eve festivities began, we braved the -16°F weather (summit) and enjoyed a great day of skiing and riding at Mont Sainte Anne. It was then time for the main event: an optional group dinner at the VooDoo Grill and party at Club Maurice on the Grande Allée, one of the most famous streets in Quebec with abundant cafes, clubs and restaurants.
The Grande Allée was abuzz with excitement at the turning of the New Year!

On New Year’s Day, the club was scheduled to go to Stoneham Mountain. However, the mountain only had an 8-inch snow base, so we headed back to its sister mountain, Mont Sainte Anne. It was a snowy day, but a comparatively balmy 22°F, and we had the chance to ski and ride in about 5 inches of new powder. What a way to start 2015! Given the big party the night before, only 22 die-hard skiers/riders (below) made it to the mountain New Year’s Day. Others used the day to sleep in, tour Quebec City, use the heated outdoor pool, and recover.
Tavia and I had so much fun leading this amazing group of people and can’t wait to ski with you all again!
Here’s to a Happy, Healthy 2015!
